Died May 27, 2003 serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom

37, of Tampa, Fla.; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed by enemy fire in Fallujah, Iraq.

Quinn, who was part of a four-man crew assigned to M1 Abrams tanks, was on guard duty at a checkpoint when a vehicle pulled up and assailants fired on him May 27.
Michael B. Quinn grew up on a ranch and helped raise sheep in high school. He was killed May 27 when Iraqis opened fire at a checkpoint in Fallujah. “He would put his heart and soul into whatever he was doing,” said his mother, Sally Quinn Taylor. “He’s going to be sorely missed by his wife, son and mother.”
Quinn leaves behind a wife, Melissa Palmer Quinn, and a son, Tim, who will be 9 in July. They live in the Colorado Springs area.
